IP address is the number of your device that is connected to the Internet or to a local network. If you want to identify your IP address, you can do it on this page.

Most often, Internet service providers use IPv4 protocol. It is based on 32 binary bits and consists of four numbers between 0 and 255 separated by dots. For example: 127.0.0.1. One of the disadvantages of such a protocol is limited quantity of unique numbers. Their maximum quantity can be about 4.3 billion - this is critically insufficient for the modern world where devices rule. Gradually, they are being replaced by IPv6 address consisting of 8 blocks of digits. The blocks themselves are constructed as four hexadecimal digits separated by colons. But IPv6 is still not implemented widely.

How to change IP address?

As practice shows, in most cases providers use dynamic IP addresses, i.e. numbers that change after a certain period of time and/or when a modem is rebooted.

However, there are also addresses that don't change - they are called static IP addresses. Such an IP can be purchased from a provider for a certain period of time, but such a service is not rendered by every provider. It is much cheaper to arrange VPN connection: in this case, not just your IP will change, but all your data will be encrypted from unauthorized persons.

VPN and IP address

You can change your IP address via VPN: it is a technology that allows you to connect to another server over the main network. Via such a connection, your IP address changes to the address of the VPN server; besides, all data incoming and outcoming from you computer are encrypted. VPN allows you to avoid leakage and control over your data, as well as to provide anonymity on the Internet.

Besides, it should be noted that scammers who know your IP address can cause a huge damage by finding out your personal information. Therefore, using VPN server is primarily about security.
